LATE ITEMS.
Hia Honor Mr Justice Williams gave Judgment this mtroing in the case of Burke and another v. Drake, which was argued in banco last week. He overruled the demurrer, with costs. In ihe cose of Douglas v. Beid, in which judgment was delivered some time his Honor to-day decided to refuse the application inalo by Mr Cook for leave to appeal. A telegram was received by the Commissioner of Police from Wellington last evening that a warrant had been issued for the arrest of a man named Peter Bounnell, who left Wellington by the Arawata, and who was "wanted" for forgery. Commissioner Weldou immediately communicated with Inspector Fox at Invercargill, and Bounnell was arrested on the Arawata at the Bluff by Sergeant Tuhey. Mr C. E. Haughton proceeds to Wellington by the Taffanaki to-morrow. It is reported in Wellington that if Mr Macaudrew does not Buccecd in carrying the motion of which he gave notice this afternoon, he and those who aot with him will withdraw from the Assembly.
