PARLIAMENT.
[By Telegkaph.] HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Wellington, August 29. In the House this afternoon Mr Macandrew gave notice of his intention to move : " That the provisions of the Abolition Act of last session are repugnant to the feelings and opposed to the interests of the people of Otago, and that therefore the operation of the Act be suspended so far as the Province of Otago is concerned ; and that hia Excellency the Governor be asked to order a fresh election for Superintendent and Provincial Council of Otago, so as to afford the people of that Province an opportunity of mining what form of Local Government would suit their requirements, and that the Abolition Act be held in abeyance as regards the Otago Province."
