BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.
Auckland, August 11. The Magistrate sentenced the mutineers of the Crawthorpe to only four months’ imprisonment. A team is being chosen to play the Christchurch football-players.
Blenheim, August 11. At three this morning, a fire broke out on the premises, in High street, belonging to Mr M’El wain, opposite- Ewart's Hotel. The fire rapidly spread to the adjoining premises of Mr Carter, draper, and thence to the Batfk of New Zealand which adjoined, and to the National Bank, the next building in the block, though not in the same street, but facing Market Square. The Fire Brigade, with both engines, were quickly on the spot, but their efforts could only serve to preserve buildings that had not ignited. Fortunately, there was no wind, else the whole of that part of Blenheim would have gone. As it was, the premises all around were much injured by the scorching, breaking of windows, &c. The Telegraph Office was in imminent danger. The Bank of New Zealand - strong room is all right, and so also is the National Bank safe. Both banks opened business this morning in neighboring premises. At one time, the destruction of the ‘ Marlborough Times ’ premises appeared almost certain.
