Wm. Barnes v. Chas. Brown. —Claim of L3O damages for an alleged assault committed by defendant on plaintiff's wife. Mr Mouat appeared.forplaintiff; Mr Denniston fordefendaut.--Catherine Barnes deposed that on June 2 defendant and another man endeavored to kickher back kitohendoor open': "Witness and another woman endeavored to keep them out, but ultimately Barnes gained admission and took hold of witness and pushed her but of the way, causing a severe cut on the arm. No papers were given by defendant to Bhow his a>:thor;ty to enter the house.—Dr Sorley Btat d that Mrs Barnes ealled on him on June 2. She was ; tiifering from a contused wound on the wrist. T le injuries misrht have been caused by violence.—Sen-'or-Constable Barry deposed that on the day in qui stion Mrs Barnes complained to him that defen ant had assaulted hor.—Defendant deposed'hat on June 2 he entered Mrs Barnes's house with a warrant of distraint. After he took an inventory of the goods, Mrs Barnes became very excited. Witness never struck or pushed her. She struck her arm against the latoh-key, causing the wound complained of.— The further hearing of the charge was adjourned for the production of material witnesses. Judgment wns given by dofault for plaintiffs in the foUowin cases with costs:—Colman Burke v. Ja?. Henderson, claim L1218s; Guthrie and Larnach v. Bebert Henderson, Ll3 17s 3d: same v. Patrick Daly, Lslos 2d. Mathew W t Hawkins v. North-East Valley Bead Board.—An appeal against an assessment by the Board of complainant's property at L3OO. The appeal was sustained, and the amoant reduced to Liso.
