Friday, August 4. (Before J. Bathgate, E«q., R.M.) J. Logan v. Samuel Lewis.—Claim of L 9 2s for twenty-six week's rent of a Government cottage at Kensington.—Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs. Maiy Clark v. Joseph Walsham.—Claim of LlO 14s 6d of money lent. Mr Mouat appeared for defendant and said that his: client was willing to pay L 3 to-morrow and the balance by instalments of 10s per week. —His Worship made an order accordingly, failing payment of any instalment the whole debt to revive, and imprisonment for twenty-one days. Scanlan Bros. v. John Snow.—Claim of L 22 lis 6d for work done.—Mr Mouat apS eared for plaintiff, and stated that defenant had paid L2 on account and had agreedto pay the balance .in monthly instalments of L2, which the plaintiff was willing to accept. —Order accordingly, failing any instalment the whole debt to revive and imprisonment for twenty-one days. M'Kegg v. Wm. H. Money.—Claim L 6 16s Bd.-The debt was admitted, and an order was made for the payment by monthly instalments of LI 10s each. John Andrew v. Michael Cluff.—This was a claim for trespass, and defendant pleaded guilty.—Plaintiff asked that a nominal fine only might be inflicted. "The trespass consisted of defendant having gone on to his land with a gun and dog to shoot rabbits. Witness had lost many sheep by similar trespasses, as the dogs frightetfed them.— Hie. Worship said that, had not plaintiff asked for a nominal penalty, he should have given judgment for the amount claimed. Defendant was fined 5s and costs.

Judgment was given "by default for plaintiff in the following cases with costs : Guthrie and Larnach y. Jas. Henderson, L 75 5s 8d on a promissory note; Davidson (as assignee in Moir's estate) v. Andrew Miller, L2 4s 6d, produce supplied ; same v. Chas. Miller, 18s 9d (L2 2s 3d was claimed).
