Barber, Margaret Scott, and Charles Lockhart were each fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Serious Assault. •-. William Hay and Hugh Mackay were charged by Constable Uark with having, at Moagiel, on May 4, unlawfully cut and wounded Andrew Funston with a knife.—lnspector Mallard stated that Funston was lying at the West Taieri Hotel under the care of Tr Inglis and he could not say-when he would be able to come forward Mr Ward : Would he not be able to appear on Monday?—lnspector Mallard : Oh dear no! I intend to ask for a remand for as long as possible; and will bring up prisoners in the meantime if Funston is able to appear. The doctor does not thiuk there is any immediate danger.—A remand till Monday week was granted. >
