CITY GUARDS' COMPETITION.
The first of a series of three competitions by members of No. 1 Company for the choice of a representative team of ten men was fired at the Anderson's Bay range this morning. The wind was puffy and the weather cloudy. It had been intended to fire at 200, 500, and 600 yards, but in consequence of Sevgt. Harrison, one of the appointed marksmen, not putting in an appearance, only five shots at 200 yards and seven shots at 500 yards could be fired. The selected team will fire against the Clutha and Tokomairiro Rifles on the Queen's Birthday. Fifteen men put in an appearance today and fired with the following results :
The competition will be continued next I Saturday.
