RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Thursday, March 30. (Before T. A. Hansford, Esq., 8.M.)
Patrick Matthews v. John Wilson.—Claim LI 10s. Mr Denniston appeared for defendant.— Plaintiff did not appear, and the ease was etrack ont, professional costs (21s) being allowed to defendant. . Henry Hayman v. Joseph Lazarus.—Claim Ll3 0s 9d. The amount was only paid this morning, and his Worship allowed professional costs to Mr Adams, plaintiff's solicitor. . . F. Siedeherg v. Jas. Bussell.—-Claim, Ll2 16s Sd,' Mr Denniston appeared for the plaintiff; Mr Bathgate for defendant. Plaintiff was non-suited, with 56s costs. M'Lellanv. D. White.—An action to recover Ll6 15s, for board and residence supplied to the wife'of defendant. Mr G. Cook appeared for the plaintiff; Mr Aldridge for defendant.—Plaintiff’s case was to the effect that Mrs White had been compelled to leave her husband on account of -liis conduct towards her, and that while stopping at M'Lennan's she wrote to him that she could not live any longer without money, audit he would not send her some she would return home. Both before and since then her husband had told her not to retain home. She had always been willing to return to her husband. She had not received any support from him —His Worship suggested a settlement.—Mr Aldridge said that defendant had two years ago prepared a deed of settlement hy which his wife would receive LI 10s a-week. The case was adjourned till Wednesday next.
