In n recent issue of the Melbourne ‘ Argus ’ there appealed a paragraph to the eff ct that Mr Robert Gardiner, of the Peatridge penal establishment, had been offered the appointment of Inspector of Prisons in this Colony. We have authority for stating that the Geneva’ Government have never made such an offer to Mr Gardiner, neither is one intended to be made.
