A SWIMMIG CLUB.

To the Editor. SrR, —In your Saturday night's issue I see a paragraph stating that a swimming school is about to be established in this town. We have our Cricket, Football, and Rowing Cluhs, etc., why not have a swimming (-'bib ? In London we find several,—the Ilex, the London, the Albion, the North London, aud many others. Thcv are all largely patronised, and deserve to be, as every person should endeavor to acquire the power of swimming, tho fact that Htos may be saved by it, even when least expected, is a sufficient argument for the lecom mendation. In my humble opinion every father ought to consider swimming part of his children's education, lucky for me mv father considered it part of mine, or I should not be writing this etter to the Lunediu Evening Star. The exercise of swimming is one of the most healthy and agrpeable in the world, and anyone who cannot sw;m loses one of the greatest boons to mankind, as after having a good swim in the evening «no sleeps coolly the whole night, ev--n durir.g the most ardent heat of summer. Perhap3 the nores of the skin being cleansed tho insensible perspiration increase* ami occasions this coolness. An opportunity ha- now afforded itsr-lf for acquiring this advantageous art, which once learnt i* never forgotten, and I trust Mr Sims will meet with the encouragement he deserves. —I am, &c, A. T. J. Dunedin, December 11.
