FUNERAL OF CAPT. COPELAND.

vi' vxii x, jjjijn.il XJ* The mortal remains of the late Mr James Copeland were borne to their final resting place, at the South Dunedin Cemeteiy, this afternoon, the deceased gentleman being buried in a family vault in the Church of .England portion of the cemetery. The body was buried with military honors, . and the strength of the various companies represented was ; —North Duneriin Rifles, under Lieut. Pell, 40; City Guards, under Capt Wales, 11; do. cadets, 24 ; do. band, 7; Naval Brigade, under Capt. ytavely, 5 ; Artillery, under Capt. Jack, 12; firemen, under Capt. Johnston, 20; Artillery Band, &o. There were also present Majar Atkinson (Tokomairiro), Captain Andrew (West Taieri), Captain Goldie (P.C.N.8.), and several members of country corps. The chief mourners were, in the first mourning carriage Messrs John and James Marshall, Reeves, and Griffen; in the second Messrs Leary, E. ff. Ward, Houghton, and E. M‘Glashan. The following was the order of procession, which was fully half a mile long North Dunedin Bides, forming body-guard, with arms reversed. Artillery Baud, playing “ DeadMarch.’* Gun carnage, bearing the body, sword, and cap, and drawn by four black horses. Mourning Carriages. Six Pall-bearers, members of No. 1 Company. Artillery Company, City Guards, Cadets, and Band. Naval Brigade. Officers of Companies. Coaches, carriages, horses, general public.
