Tadmor was the favorite at 6to 4, Hercules won easily. November 12. The weather to-day was dull but fine, and there was a large attendance on the course. Handicap Hurdle Race, of 70 sovs, if 5, and 50 sovs if any less number start, added to a sweepstake- of 5 sovs each for acceptors. Two miles, over eight flights of hurdles. Mr P, Campbell's Tommy Dodd, list 71b 1 Mr lb O’Brim a I'akeha, lOst s!b 2 Mr Craddock’s Muscatel. lOst 2lb 0 Mr J. Campbell’s Speculation, 9at 0 Betting : 3 to 1 on Tommy Dodd. After a good start Speculation made the running, but baulked at the first hurdle, and Tommy I -odd then led, jumping beautifully, with Muscatel second. Opposite the stand Muscatel and .Speculation baulked, the latter falling on to the hurdle and breaking it down, and Pakeha took the second place. At the top of the course Pakeha went up to Tommy, and the two ran together until the hast jump but one, when Pakeha fell. Tommy Dodd won as he liked, Pakeha a bad second. Christchurch Plate, of 150 sovs, added to a sweepstakes d 5 sovs each; second horse to save hm stake. Winners of LIOO to carry 71b nxtra; L2OO, 101b ; L3OO, 141b. Maidens a.t starting allowed— for 3yrs old, 51b; 4 yr.--, 101b ; 5 yra and upwards, 141b, Two mile 3. Mr Redwood's Korari 1 Mr O’Brien’s. Fishhook " 2 Mr P. Camubell’s Daniel O’Rourke 3 Mr Delamain’s Pungawerewere 0 Seven of,hers were scratched. The betting was level against Korari and Fishhook ; 4 to 1 agst Daniel O’Rourke, 8 to 1 Pungawerewere. Korarai 'jed ou% but opposite the stand Fishhook wen t to the front, Pungawerewere already falling out of the race. A splendid race ens ued between the other three, but Korari won by ho If a length, Daniel O’Rourke a good third. Time, 3min. 44^sec.
