At the top of the course Pakeha went up to Tommy, and the two ran together until the hast jump but one, when Pakeha fell. Tommy Dodd won as he liked, Pakeha a bad second. Maidens a.t starting allowed— for 3yrs old, 51b; 4 yr.--, 101b ; 5 yra and upwards, 141b, Two mile 3. Mr Redwood's Korari 1 Mr O’Brien’s. Fishhook " 2 Mr P. Camubell’s Daniel O’Rourke 3 Mr Delamain’s Pungawerewere 0 Seven of,hers were scratched. The betting was level against Korari and Fishhook ; 4 to 1 agst Daniel O’Rourke, 8 to 1 Pungawerewere. Korarai 'jed ou% but opposite the stand Fishhook wen t to the front, Pungawerewere already falling out of the race.
