Auckland, November 11. The * Echo ’ announces its discontinuance tonight. In the notice announcing its demise, it says that, it has expended L 3.000 in twelve months, and spired no exjien ii or enter; rise, but has come to the conclusion that Auckland cannot_ support another evening paper, and that it i s useless to struggle against a journal so wideby circulated and popular as the ‘Star.’ Matt hew Moore has been committed for trial for the wilful murder of Richard Barrett.
