CITY COUNCIL.
A meeting of the City Council to consider a final proposal from the Manse tenants for the settlement of the Princes street widening question was called for one o’clock this afternoon, but as there were only the Mayor and nine Councillors present, and as the notice had been so short, it was decided to adjourn till three o’clock on Monday, when a full Council is expected. Yesterday afternoon the Finance Committee had a meeting, at which Mr Anderson, the Corporation’s solicitor, and Mr Sievwright, as representing the Manse tenants, were present. We understand the committee have made an offer to the tenants to settle with them fora lumpsum, very 1.1 tie short of what we stated a few days since t he tenants were prepared to accept Therefoi e, there is every reason to think that at Monday’s meeting something like a settlement of the matier will be come to.
