Mercer reports, for the week ending July 30 (retail prices only) .—Fresh butter, 2s 3d to 2s 4d per lb.: powdered and salt butter, Is lOd to 2s. Freiih butter still continues very scarce, and some of it very inferior; salt butter gelling well, and the market pretty well supplied. Cheese, tho best quality, Is to Is 2d par lb ; side bacon, Is 3d per lb; rolled bacon, Is Id tola 2d; beef ham, lOd ; Colonial hams, Is 3d to Is 4d per lb; English bams (new), Is 8d to Is 9d. There is still a good demand for eggs at 2s 6d per dozen.
