RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, PORT CHALMERS.
Monday, July 12. (Before T. A, Mansford, Esq., R.M.)
Drunk and Disorderly. John Gillison, who pleaded guilty to this offence, was severely reprimanded by the Bench and discharged. Theft. George Viokers, a seaman, was charged on two coun'.B with stealing sundry articles! of wearing apparel, the property of John Neylon and Charles Wilkinson. From the evidence of th 9 prosecutor it appeared the prisoner came to their but on the night of Friday, tho9thinst., and requested food and Bhelter, which was willingly accorded him. On the following morning the prosecutors, before leaving the hut, desired prisoner to take some food before he left, and on their return at the close of the day they missed several articles, which the police discovered in nii-oner's bag onboard the City of Cashmere. The Bench sentenced the prisoner to be imprisoned and kept to hard labor fur two months on each charge.
