Poet Chalmers, April 14. An accident, attended with loss of life, occurred at Broad Bay this afternoon. A young ;nau named William Styles, while endeavoring to rescue a calf which had fallen down an unused well became overpowered by the noxious vapors, and let go his hold of the rope to which he was attached fell into the water. The calf got on top of him and he was smothered. A youth named Christie endeavored to descend to his assistance, but found the vapors arising from the well to be so powerful he was compel ed to desist.
