CITY IMPROVEMENTS.
To the Editor. Sir, —Some time ago, perhaps a couple of months, the Corporation caused a number of kerb-stones to be laid down in Stafford street, from its junction with Princes street to Hope street. The residents and passersby in this locality fondly imagined that the much needed improvement in this street was at length about to be done. Judge of my surprise, however, to day, in passing, to find draymen busily employed in removing the stones, and upon making inquiries I find they are to be laid down in the upper part of High Ward, so that I suppose the necessary improvements in Stafford street will bedelayed for goodness knows how long. The economical portion of the arrangement will be obvious, as of coarse double cartage will have to be paid. What are the Councillors for South Ward about? Are they asleep, or do their, well-known mutual differences prevent them amalgamating for the good of the Ward.— I am, 4c., H. S. Fish, jun. Dunedin, February 25.'
