THE VOLUNTEERS.

selection of colonial representatives. Ab there were two omissions in the list of Colonial representatives published by ns on Saturday, we now supply a correct one. '1 he following are the eight men who represent Otago

The men who, having made 80 points and upwards, are at liberty to proceed to Napier by paying their own expenses, are Douglas, No. I; M'Kenzie, Wak. ; Miller,' N.D. ; Tresseder, No. 1 ; Dobbie, D. N.B. ; Grant, D.N.B. ; Jamieson, No. 2; Buchanan, D., W.T. ; Blatch, W.T. ; Pollock, N.D.; Dickson, Portofeello ; Lean, P.C.N.B ; M'Cartney, J., Portobello; M‘Gregor, No. 1; Frew, N.D.; Marshall, Wakari; M‘Car£ney, W., Portohello. The four Thames representatives to compete at the Colonial prize tiring, besides Lieut. Hoskins, are Sergeant Campbell and Volunteers Gordon, Clark, and Grundy. . The firing for the choice of Representatives for the Government Prize-firing for this year by the thirty highest scorers in the Auckland district, took p ace at the Mount Eden Rifle range on Thursday, the 6th inst. The .firing, taken on the whole, was very gool. The scores made at the long range were, with only one or two exceptions, n»t quite up to the mark, and is accounted for by the sun affecting the sighting to a considerable extent. Ten men made the requisite number of points to qualify themselves, but only five of these are termed Government men, i.e., men whose passages and expenses are paid by the Government, Volunteer Stone, who was the second highest scorer of the Colony, at the representative firing last year, seems to have neglected his practice, as he is very far down the list, making only 69 points. Alderton and Leigh, the two highest scorers, were amongst the representatives last year. Appended are the scores of those who have qualified :
