THE PROVINCIAL ACCOUNT.
The general balance-sheet for the financial year ended March 31 has been published. At the end of the last financial year there was a balance against the Province of L 44.658 10s ; this year there is a credit balance of L 13.149 7s 2d. The Provincial revenue for the year was L 308.067 17s Id ; and there was received from the General Government during that period, L 5,000; under tin North Otago District Loan Act, L6,6111456d; under the Public Works Act, and on account of Road Boards, L 21.874 13s 9d, making a total revenue from all sources of L 341.554 5s 4d. The overdraft of L44.G58 was liquidated; the general expenditure amounted to L2G9,300 13a lOd, L 4,225' being under the North Otago Loan Act, thus leaving a balance of L 27.595 Is 6d, of which L 744 11s Id is voted for expenditure under the North Otago Loan Vet, 1-160 under the Public Works Act, and L 13,540 i2s 5d on account of the Road Boards, so that the actual balance in favor of the Province is L 13,149 7s 2d, as before stated. The receipts, actual and estimated', are stated as follows—shillings and pence being omitted :
