THE VOLUNTEERS.

At battalion parade, last night, at the Headquarters Drill Shed, Lieut.-Colonel Carg ll in command, the Artillery, No. 1, Scottish Company, and North Dunedin Company were represented. They fell in, and were marched to the High School grounds. After going through a Yew evolutions, they returned to the Drill Shed. Prizes for the late district competitions were presented by Lieut-Colonel Cargill; after which, the City Guards and Scottish Company were inspected, both companies mustering well, considering the unsettled state of the weather. Lieut. Spalding, of the Scottish Company, and Lieut. Pell, of the North Dunedin Company, had their commissions presented to them before the prizes were distributed, as follows : First Set.— Lieut W.
