WASTE LAND BOARD.

The Waste Land Board mpp ypgterday at noon. Present, tho Chief Commissioner of Waste Lands, Messrs Duncan, Hughes, ami Allan. The consideration of tho applications of A. Brown, G. Grey Russell (as agent for Stuart and Kinross), G. F. Reid for R. Doull, and Id ward Cook for Daggs were postponed On the first application, the Government were recommended to lay off the whole township on the p’an. Leave was granted to W. A. Tolmie to burn a portion of the Wairema Hundred at his own risk. Prelection was granted to W. G. Rutherford for six mouths to prospect for coal at Waikara Harbor. The district Land Officer at Invercargill was referred to the Government for instructions respecting an application to purchase block 3, i oitois, said to be auriferous. The complaint of the settlers at Toitois, respecting tho expenditure of money on roads, was noted. Tho application by tho secretary of tho Bannockburn school committee for two acres as a reserve for school purposes was referred tp the Education Board, John Lyffeb, op his application for a lease of two acres' at Window for working a coal

lease was referred to the principle laid down in the thief Commissioner’a report, 2ui October. Edward Campbell’s application for having an acre surveyed at Kaitangata waa declined. An annual licence was granted to Richard M'Kay for a fellmongery at Bengerburn. An application to purchase an acre of land near Kaitangata Bridge was declined. On Campbell and Low’s application for a lease of three acres for a coal lease at M‘Laughton’s Gully, a sketch was ordered to he submitted to the Board.

A protest having been handed in against the sale of block 8, Dunedin and East Taieri, it was ordered not to be proceeded with. The survey of section 1, block 20, town of Kaitangata, was refused, the site being required for public purposes.
