THE VOLUNTEERS.

The quarterly firing for the Xaval Brigade’s (Anderson’s Bay Division) Challenge Medal took place yesterdaymorniug. The extremely cold weather, and the gale blowing across the range, with heavy showers of rain, rendered shooting difficult. The ranges were 200, SUO, and 600 yards, five Shots at each range ; no sighting shots ; Wimbledon targets. Lieut. Grant was the winner with a score of 36. The following sre the four highest scorers :

The weather was very bad, snow, rain, and wind blowing heavily across the range. There were 24 competitors. Towards the latter part of the shooting intense interest was excited as the two highest scorers were tieing shot for shot, and each had won the medal twice before. Sergt. M‘Cartney ended with three bull’s-eyes at 600 yards, Ensign Dickson making an outer for his last shot. The conditions were :—4OO, 500, and 600 yards ; five shots at each range ; no sighting shots.
