WAKARI ELECTION.
To-day, at noon, the nomination of candidates fo the 'reprefpntajliop of Wakari in the Provincial Council took place at tho Drill Shed, Kaikorai. The Returning Officer, A. C. Strode, Esq,, having read the writ and the advertisement appointing tho nomination, Mr Alexander Wilson proposed and Mr R. Mahon seconded the nomination of Mr Henry Driver, No other candidate having been proposed, Mr Driver was declared duly elected. Mr Driver briefly returned thanks. Mr M‘intyre requested Mr ( harlcs Flexman to explain the reasons why he had not offered himself as a candidate. Mr Flexman said he wr.s not prepared to offer himself at present, for having been in Victoria lately he was not well up in political matters. On some future occasion he should be glad to offer hfmseff for the district when he trusted he should ipeet tfieip support. He thought the electors had made a gopd choice in Mr Driver,
A vote of thanks to the Returning Officer brought the proceedings to a close.
