MAYOR’S COURT.
Tins Day. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) DRUNKENNESS. John Stewartson and James A. Cheyne were each fined ss. Francis Matcbfltt, having been locked up since Saturday night, was dischar ed with a caution. Charles Alexander, for being drunk while in charge of a horse, was fined 20s. OFFENCES AGAINST THE BYE-LAWS. Julius M'Quaid, for furious driving, was fined 10s and costs; William Bunting, for allowing cattle to wander, 5s and costs ; John Hornby, allowing the Company’s water to run to waste, 2s 6d and costs. VAGRANCY. Clifford Wright did not appear to answer a charge preferred against him of obtaining goods, &c., by means of false pretences, in representing himself to be a Government officer in receipt of a salary of L2OO a year; and a warrant was ordered to issue for his apprehension. ILLEGAL DETENTION. Margaret Jackson v. Andrew Thompson, was a formal complaint to compel the subinspector of police to deliver up the sum of LlO odd held by him, monies found on Frederick Hooke, convicted at the last sessions of robbing Mrs Jackson. Au order was made as prayed for.
