This Day. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., E.M.) Civn. Cases. Hyman v. M'Laren.—This case was adjourned to Friday next. Bacon and Meyer v. Collins and Solomon. —L9 11s 8,1. The evidence for the defence had been taken at Queenstown. The plaintiff Bacon in his evidence stated that the defendants hired a waggon and horses from him at the rate of L 4 a week, one week payable in advance, the defendants to keep the whole in good repair. The defendants asked that being short of money, L 3 instead of L 4 should be paid in advance, which was agreed to. After working a few days the horses were returned. The plaintiff said when they left the stables the horses were staunch and in g»od condition. Boberts, a farmer, from where plaintiff bought the horses, confirmed the evidence as to there being staunch. This was confirmed by two other witnesses. Judgment for the plaintiffs for the amount with costs. Bird v. Brown.—l.3 17s 4d. Judgment by default for the plaintiff for the amount with costs. Gray v. Hca’ey. —LI4 11s Bd, for 79 sheets of corrugated iron Tim plaintiff said he had received a cheque for Ll4 10s Sd. Judgment by default for plaintiff Is and costs. Collins v. T, F. Davis.—For goods, 13s.

The defence was that the plaintiff ought to have hr mghc all the furniture, which he had failed to do, as he had only one horse instead of two. Judgment for the plaintiff for the amount with costs.
