Dicliinson. —LG 14a 6d for bread. L2 had been received leaving a balance of L 4 14s 6d, for which judgment was given by default for the plaintiff. Patten v. Tristram.—A claim for LI4 10s for board and lodging. Judgment for the plaintiff by default for the amount with costs. I|aylcy v. Russell. —L 5 10a, the value of a promissory'note. Judgment for the plaintiff by default for the amount with co*ia. Scott v. Russell. —LI 13s Gd for the value pf a, meerschaum pipe and repairing another. Judgment by default for the plaintiff for the amount with costs.

Gibbons v. Gilmour. —L 3 for two weeks wages. The plaintiff said that he entered into an agreement with defendant for twelve months to work for 30s a week on condition that the latter taught him to saw. After working three months he asked for higher wages which the defendant refused. He gave a fortnight’s notice and the defendant refused to pay him. In answer to the defendant the plaintiff said that he had offered to pay him his wages regularly after retaining two week’s wages in his hands as security for his stopping the time agreed upon. The defendant stated that having advertised for a person to work at a saw mill the plaintiff applied, and was engaged at 30s a week for the first year, and an advance the second, a fortnight’s wages to ha retained as security for his performing the agreement. The plaintiff said he was in debt, and in order to assist him L2 was paid the first week, and the full amount afterwards until he gave notice to leave when defendant determined to enforce the agreement, and kept two week’s wages. The plaintiff left suddenly on the money being refused. This was con* firmed by the evidence of Mr Finlay. Judgment for the defendant. Kitchingham v. Ellis. —L 39s lOd. The defendant pleaded a set-off of LS Is Id, Verdict for the plaintiff, LI 19s 7d, with costs.
