THE NEW REPRESENTATION BILL.
The new Representatiom Bill has considerable dissatisfaetjon :ia many parte tof the Colony. The Tlmaru Herald aaka: — “ H6w is. it that Taranaki, with oniy4,Boo people, and ho wealth or trade! to speak of, is to have three members, whilst Westland, with nearly three times the population, and certainly twenty times the wealth, is reduced to two members. Westlaiid is to suffer for the sins of opposition evidently. And Southland, which contains no goldfields; is to have a member taken away, whilst her population and industries have largely increased.” The following table shows the number of representatives at present; and as proposed, together with the population:— Present Proposed 'Population No. of No. of 3i)thJune H ■ Members.'
