BRITISH HOME GUARD

SERVICE COMING NEAR END Rec. noon. RUGBY, September 4. The Home Guard, which is entrusted with the protection of Britain during the present campaign in the west, has been instructed to be ready for a time, now probably not far off, when it can lay down its burden. r A letter to its formations and units says that the danger of potential enemy interference and. of attacks by flying missiles has not yet passed. The Home Guard should therefore continue to take the place of the regular ■ forces until, in the opinion of the Government, all dangers have passed. "The success of the campaign on the Continent points to the likelihood of this date being near, and it will therefore be necessary to have the machinery ready for the standing down of the Home Guard," says the letter. —8.0.
