DEADLY BLOWS

KONIGSBERG RAIDS

Rec. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 4. Konigsberg, the capital of east Prussia, was largely reduced to ruins Jy «J c R-A.P. attacks on August 26 and In an area extending about a mile and two-thirds east and west' across the centre of the city and more than a mile north and south, there were such vast fires that most of the buildmgf .were Sutted. It is most probable that the enemy lost great quantities of supplies and equipment brought to Konigsberg by sea to be sent on to the Russian front by rail. In the raid on the 29th, hundreds of acres of Stettin, already badly damaged by earlier attacks, were devastated. Thus a double blow was struck at the enemy's whole supply system to the northern part of the Russian front.—B.O.W.
