FALL OF AUTUMN LEAVES
NEW YORK, September 3.
"The invasion of Italy is seen as an answer to the Russian demands for a second front in Europe this year," says the' "New York Times" correspondent in Washington. "It is in keeping with Mr. Churchill's promise; the leaves of autumn' have .just begun to fall, and the United Nations are battling for a foothold on the mainland of Europe, but it is believed that other fronts will be opened before the leaves have fully carpeted the grounds of the White House."
