MOST DAMAGING BLOW
BREACHES AT THREE POINTS
LONDON, September 3,
Allied aircraft kept up their widespread attacks on Italian communications yesterday, plastering railway targets from end to end of the country. The; chief attacks of the day were made by four formations of Fortresses on the key railway junctions of Bolzano, Trento, and Bologna, in north Italy.
A correspondent says this was probably the most damaging blow of the war at Italy's lines of communication. This vital railway, which carries more than half of the -war materials from Germany to Italy, has been broken at; three points. In spite of heavy fighter opposition, only one Fortress failed to return from these very heavy raids. The total Allied losses during the day for all attacks were 15 aircraft; the Axis lost 34.
