COPING WITH DAMAGE
FLYING SQUADS BEING FORMED
LONDON, October 14,
Sir Warren Fisher, who is directing the work of restoring damaged roads and public services and the clearing of debris in the London region, today visited one of the most badly-bombed places, where he saw a company of 5000 men of the Pioneer Corps at work.
At the end of his tour Sir Warren said that if the areas affected in the first five weeks could be cleared up and the German raiders did not do any worse damage than they had been doing, it would, be a day-to-day job. Flying squads are being formed to cope with the .damage, and now the unemployed are being used in increasing numbers for the work of clearance.
