LITTLE DAMAGED
REAL EFFECT IN LONDON
LONDON, October 14
The London correspondent, of the Stockholm newspaper "Tidningen" states that after six weeks of attack from the air London is so little damaged that it still remains the centre of Britain's war effort. " The destruction was less than 1 per cent.
"I am more than ever convinced," he says, "that bombardment from the air cannot decide the war unless one side is so superior that its opponent's defences are completely broken down, which is not the case with London. Leaving out the more heavily bombed parts of the East End, it is possible to take a quarter of an hour's bus ride almost anywhere without seeing more air-raid damage than broken glass and craters in the road."
