SEASON OPENS
OARSMEN CELEBRATE AT
DANCE
As usual, the Star Boating Club followed the opening of the rowing season with a most successful dance in their clubhouse in the evening. Although a large number of members, including the club captain. Lieutenant C. A. Hosking, are now on military service, many were able to obtain leave, and the uniforms of the three services were prominent among the dancers. Many old members and their friends who attended the opening function in the afternoon were again present in the evening.
The committee responsible was Messrs. A. Lowe. L. L. Tapp, W. L. Young, J. Moleta, A. Orr, J. Ashby. and G. Turner, and among the dancers were Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Lowe. Mr. and Mrs. Trevor Hinkley, Mr. and Mrs. de la Perelle, Mr. and Mrs. W. Anderson, Mr and Mrs. Tapp. Mr. and Mrs. J. Waugh, Mr. and. Mrs.. W. A. Walker; Misses Joan Sidford, Fay Moffatt (Wanganui), Pat Maunsell, Marie Best. Susanne Bothamley, Ailsa Mitchell, Irene English. Vivienne Broad, Ida Lockwood, Miriam Worsfold. Gloria Glasson, B. Lane, Dorothy Burn. Myrtle Burn,-Dawn Sullivan, K. Bas-sett-Smith, Betty Snow, T. Holmes. Mary Hill: Captain S. Clarke, and Messrs. Geoff Broad. John Bullock. Stuart Sidford. Gordon Jones. N. Rose.
