HORTICULTURE

NEW ZEALAND INSTITUTE

At the last meeting of the executive council of the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture it was reported that a record total of twenty-nine candidates had entered for the institute's annual examinations. Mr. F. S. Pope presided.

The report said that there were 11 junior, six intermediate, and 12 diploma candidates.

A welcome was extended by the president to Dr. W. R. B. Oliver on his return from an eight months' tour of museums in the United Kingdom, Europe, and North America.

Gratification was expressed at the continued excellence of the work being carried out in the Taranaki district.

Dr. H. H. Allan was appointed editor of the "Journal" in succession to Dr. W. R. B. Oliver, who has resigned because of pressure of work.
