STERILITY IN STOCK

VALUABLE RESEARCH WORK

(By felegraph— Press Association..

FEILDING, October 7.

When the council of the Romney Marsh Sheep Association was discussing a further grant of £100 towards research into the question of sterility in sheep and cattle the opinion was expressed that more should be done, as the question was of paramount importance not only from the breeders' but from the national point of view. As a practical demonstration of their belief in this view several of the members offered to contribute, apart from the donation made by the association, a ram or its value in cash. It was thought that others outside the council and other associations than the Romney association would also realise the necessity for this research and would contribute towards investigations now being conducted at Massey College.

Much progress has already been made by those in charge of the investigations, which have now been going on for a considerable time. Certain definite conclusions have been arrived at and facts determined which already have been of much use to breeders.
