BOOKMAKER FINED

DUNEDIN, October 7,
"I understand that he is not a member of the Bookmakers' Association," said Chief-Detective Holmes in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when Alfred Driscoll, aged 55, admitted a charge of carrying on the business of a bookmaker.
Chief-Detective Holmes said that for some months Driscoll had been carrying on a small bdokmaking business. His premises- were searched, and a record of 32 bets covering £21 7s 6dj was found, with two double charts. j He had been betting in hotels and at his private residence. An inspection of his premises indicated that he had a well-established bookmalting business, Driscoll was fined £18,
