The following cablegram was received by the Chinese Consul from Hankow this morning:—
"There has been no change, hi the situation at Tienkiachen during the last day or two. South of Shahgcheng, in Honan, there was sanguinary fighting between our troops and the enemy for eighteen days " and nights. ' Here the enemy launched general offensives one after ?the other, but were all repulsed, the enemy suffering more than 10,000 losses. We recaptured over 10 hills. Yesterday and the day before the fighting had ceased in this sector. Realising that their attacks had been fruitless, the enemy. Have ..removed their troops elsewhere.
"Our air force yesterday bombed Loshan and inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, and frustrated their threat to Sinyang., "Yesterday there was fierce fighting on the Juichang sector, south of the Yangtze River. In their incessant bombardment of our positions, the enemy used gas shells. It appears that fighting will be centred on this, sector.
