BIRTHDAY PARTY

JUNIOR WOMEN'S CLUB^

There was a very large gathering of members and friends recently, ,(when the Y.W.C.A. Junior Women's Club held their fourth "birthday party." The members and the lecturerooms of the Y.W.C.A, were beautifully decorated for the occasion, the magnolias being particularly admired. Mrs. Tennet (club president) expressed appreciation of the number of visitors present and welcomed two new mem*

bers. Among those who contributed to the

excellent programme were the Khandallah Glee Singers, who gave two numbers, "Sheppards Dance" and "The Cuckoo Clock," and Mrs. Welch, who sang "Keep on Hopin'" and "There's a Big Lot of Sunshine Coming Soon." Mrs. Mac Donald was the accompanist. "The Actress" was the title of a play read by the Play Reading Circle, and members of this group were complimented on their performance. Those taking part were Mesdames Martin, Gracey, Laurenson, and Miss Griffiths. Stage directions were read by Mrs. Tennet. An amusing drawing competition was won by Mrs. Mac Donald

A delicious afternoon tea was served by members of the committee. The birthday cake, with its four candles, was cut by Mrs. Gardner (president of the Y.W.C.A.), who said the club was a very flourishing one for its age, and wished it every success in the future.

Among those present were Lady Pomare, Mesdames Hunt, Gardner, Nicholson, Pearson, Lawson; and Tustin, members of the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A. and the Women's Auxiliary. Visitors included Mesdames Bryce, Farrington, Bryan, Ronaldson, Parsons, Griffiths, Worth, Vinsen, Morgan, Gibson, Vallance, Johnson, Penlington, and Miss Gibson.
