The Australian bowling carnival was continued today with the pairs championship, only twenty of 560 pairs failing to appear. All greens were satisfactory. . \- First round/ New Zealand results were: Belcher/ and Hunt, won, 17-16; Macklow ■ and Bremner won, 17-15; Anchor and. Evans won, 20-10; Gatland and Layzell lost, 15-18; Rogers and Robertson tied, 12-12; Williams and Patton lost, 12-21; Whittaker and Clarke beat- a South Australian pair, 23-15; H. Robinson and Livingstone beat a Tasmanian pair, 23-18; Somervell and Jury won, 20-14; Proud and Hosking won, 15-10; Macey and Dennison won, 23-21; Skinner and Bray lost, 12-21 ;Whitten and Whiteside lost, 10-23; Chambers and Davis lost, 7-28; Ure and Rankin lost, 12-15; Best and Wilkinson lost, 19-21; Osmond and Goldfinch won, 20-15; Harlow and Austin won, 17-14; Carbines and Griffiths won, 22-18; Coutts and Leach tied, 14-14;. Pomeroy and Hawking lost, 8-31; Jackson and Perry received a bye.
