FEWER COUNTIES
A PROPOSAL UNDER FIRE

DUNEDIN, This Day.
Condemnation of the Government's proposal for a measure of amalgamation between counties was voiced at a conference of local bodies and the Automobile Association last evening, the reason given being that the proposal was not in the interests of community efficiency or economy. All counties in the province were represented except Waihemo, and the representatives with one exception expressed disapproval of the idea of amalgamation.
