PROPOSED BROADCAST
MINISTER ADAMANT
TEXT OF SPEECHES AWAITED
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, This Day,
In connection with the Auckland request for permission to broadcast a mass meeting on the future of B class radio stations the Acting Minister of Broadcasting (the Hon. F. Jones) stated this morning that following an Auckland telegram that a summary cf the speeches had been forwarded by air mail a letter arrived containing merely a list of the speakers, with the Information that the speakers had given the gist of their speeches in a few words, but could give nothing further as they didn't use notes. An assurance was given that the speakers would confine themselves to the B station issue, merely voicing the opinion that the stations should be guaranteed further assistance and allowed to live as declared in the Government's election pledges. So far the Minister has not received copies of the speeches as required, and until he does the matter cannot be carried further.
