PETONE CLUB
The membership of the P,etone Bowling Club showed a slight increase during the past season, three members resigning and nine new members joining. The annual report, which is _to be presented to the annual meeting of members on June 17, states that the membership is now 77 ordinary members, 1 honorary, and 2 life. The financial position of the club was improved during the year, the credit balance being increased from- £63 to £92. The club took an active part in fixtures during the season, », entering eight rinks for the senior pennant and two rinks for the junior pennant, which was won by the club's B team. The club was also well represented at the New Zealand bowling tournament, had twelve rinks in the Hutt Valley Banner competition, and was fully represented in other centre fixtures. The club's own competitions received the full support of members, the events being won by the following:— Champion singles, Mr. O. Silbery; champion pairs, Messrs. W. T. Kerr and O. Silbery; junior singles, Mr. W. T. ICerr Members again showed a personal interest in their club property, and the report states that a considerable amount of work was done by the green committee and the greenkeeper to keep the green in order during what was not a particularly favourable season for greens. Several improvements are suggested, and members will be asked to consider attending to the matters brought forward so that they will not be a burden on club finances.
