Charity Bridge Party.
.Bridge players are reminded of the party to be* held at the Hotel ' St. George on Monday,. June 21. The Palm Lounge will be made available, and as arrangements for the party are in "the hands of a most efficient committee, the function should prove a most enjoyable one. The> proceeds will be donated to the King-George V Memorial Fund, so all interested are cordially invited to attend, and by their presence, help so Worthy a cause. Tables may be booked by communicating with, the Hotel St. George, or by telephoning Mrs. Marshall Maconald, Mrs. B. B. Wood, or Miss Nellie Donovan. School With Cinema. A recently-opened London school is the first in that city especially planned to contain a cinema. It has an .up-to-date gymnasium, a metal-work centre,, and a fully-furnished three-roomed flat, with bath, where girls: learn housewifery. A hot meal is provided for 200 boys and girls daily for 6d. Two Parties Yesterday. Although Miss Ranee Miller's wedding to Mr. Erik Parker is now only a few days off parties still continue to be given in her honour. Two were held yesterday, a luncheon at the D.I.G. and a "round-the-fire" party last night. Miss Dorothy Kelly gave the luncheon, the other guests being Mrs. Clive Brown. Mrs. Brian Wynne, and the Misses June Allison, Yvonne Holmes, and Rosalind Stott. Each brought a gift for the bride-elect. Miss Peggy Hyams was the hostess in the evening, the party taking place at her home in Park Street. Those present were Mrs. Louis Hyams (the hostess's mother), Mrs. G. E. Miller (mother of the guest of honour), Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. J. Ronald, Mrs, Brian Wynne, and the Misses June Allison, Joan Parker, Joan Roskruge. Sybil Williams, Mollie Brown. Meg Stott, Paddy Hope Gibbons, and Dorothy Kelly. Gift Evening. An enjoyable gift evening was given recently for Miss Doris Webb, by Mrs. N. Sherwood, at the residence of MrsR. Leslie Jones. The many guests pre-! sented Miss Webb with a host of most useful kitchen necessities, all of which were in the same shades of blue and cream. Among those present were Mesdames Godfrey, Elliott, F. Murphy, A. Davidson, F. Davidson, Mitchell, Tucker, Webb, H. Glover, Stevenson, Deane, Misses Marion Bell, E. Webb, Ngaire Murphy,: Babs Sherwood, D. Jones, J. Walls, and Joyce Wright.
