WINTER RACE MEETING

Heavy showers, hail, and a little wind made the opening day of the Wanganui Jockey Club's Winter Meeting on Saturday as unpleasant as it could possibly be. An Eskimo' outfit was really needed in which to venture out on such a day, consequently smartly-tailored costumes and overcoats and the always-popular fur coats were universally worn. Among the many present were Mesdames P. A. O'Neill (in a Persian lamb coat), M« Smith (black frock and coat), N. R. Bain (navy suit and hat), H. D. Robertson (Persian lamb coat), W. F.
