WAIWETU CLUB
The weekly ball competition stroke, at Waiwetu resulted in a tie between L. Chnstensen and A. Lewis in the senior division, and W. N. Maxwell and N. H. Meldrum in the junior, all four havmg net 73's. The fqurball bogey resulted in a runaway victory for A. T. Clelland (5) and W. C. Gregory (14), who were 8 up. Next were W. R. Chambers (9) and A. Lewis (14), 4' up, and G. E. Millward (7) and Norman Fuller, 2 up. Fuller went round in 77. The final of the Atkins Cup between J. Newell (19) and L. Quin (10) was decided on Sunday morning. Newell won by the narrowest margin, 1 up. It was even going all.the way, and Newell made good use of his allowance of 7 strokes. Quin stuck to his guns and put up a splendid fight; both . had net scores of 75. The second round of the R. C. Kirk Memorial Cup resulted 'as follows:— H. H. C. Ribbands beat L. Marsden, 5 and 4; D. J. Oliver won from Colder by default; J. J. Cheevers beat W N. . Maxwell, 3 and 2; J B. Wallace beat A. Abrim, 1 up; W. T. Wilson beat A. N. Tosswill, 5 and- 4; T. P. Davis beat W. N. Taylor, 1 up; I. Johnson beat R. Robert;:, 4 and 3; E. F. Hammonds beat P. Wallace, 2 and 1. The following qualified to play of! for the Pulley Cup match play on handicap, all scores net:—A. Lewis, L. Christensen, W. Maxwell, and N. H. Meldrum, 73; 1.. Johnson and R. W. Gray, 74; J. G. Ne%vell, T. P. Davis. D. J. Oliver, A. T. Clelland. N. J. Sherwood, L. Quin, and H. Bice, 75; WT N. On the King's Birthday there will.
be a thirty-six hole bogey competition j for the Mawby Cup. and next Sunday i morning the first of three bogey rounds j for the "Ked Top Chrystals" will be placed. H H. C. Ribbands seems to have struck his best form. On Saturday i morning he did a gross 74, and follow-, ed that up with a steady 11 in his Walt I Cud match in the aiternoon. His 74 is the best since Waiwetu took over the course.
