MONTHLY DANCE
In contrast with the boisterous weather conditions outside, the Blue Triangle Hall presented a scene of gay revelry when the Y.W.C.A. social committee held the second of its series of monthly invitation dances. Large bowls of vivid autumn berries and Iceland poppies harmonised with the background of greenery and variegated streamers, and the colourful frocking of the guests provided a happy contrast. Mr. Harry Wilson acted as M.C., and the orchestra in attendance played a variety of popular numbers. The introduction of a "Bean" competition at the beginning of the evening created an atmosphere of cheerful sociability, and novelty .dances gave added variety to the programme. A good floor and dainty supper also contributed largely towards the general enjoyment. Bowls of autumn berries and foliage were arranged in the lounge adjoining the hall, where the autumn tonings of the newly-acquired furnishings mado an attractive" retreat for the guests between dances. Among those present were Miss L. W. Bridgman (general secretary, Y.W.C.A.), Miss E. Bennell (activities secretary)-, Misses L. Rodger, J. Little, 7. Pearson, V. Marshall, M. Churchill, J.
