Staff Dance. There were about 150 people present at the.Turnbull and Jones, Ltd., staff 'dance held in a dancing studio on Satuprday night. The decorations were gay and the band played all the latest dance tunes. The dance, which was organised by Mr. Angus Ferguson (honorary secretary), was so successful that it was decided to hold another in the near future. Mr. B. G. Stephens (general manager) and Mrs. Stephens were among those present. Dance on Wednesday. The Hataitai Returned Soldiers' Auxiliary Committee has issued invitations for a dance in the Rex Hall, Kilbirnie, on Wednesday nicht The hall has been newly decorated, and as an energetic committee has been working for some time, the dance on Wednesday promises to be specially enjoyable. Wedding Next Saturday. On Saturday afternoon Miss Juns Allison gave, a party for Miss Ranee Miller, to whom she will be a bridesmaid at her wedding to Mr. Erik Parker next Saturday. All the guests brought gifts for the bride-elect's bathroom. The party was held at Mrs. C. H. Suisted's home* 46 Hobson Street. Country Girls in Auckland. The various activities in connection with the Girls' Educational Week in Auckland, organised by the Waitemata provincial executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union and the Auckland Federation of Women's Institutes," included a visit to the Karitane Hospital, where a practical demonstration of mothercraft was given. The girls were conducted over the hospital and later were entertained at afternoon tea. The girls also attended a "drama evening" and a "community singing afternoon," and were addressed several times by various speakers. A visit was paid to the St. John Ambulance Station, and to the Monowai and Mangere airports. Municipal Croquet Club. The eighteenth annual meeting of the Wellington Municipal Croquet Club was held in the pavilion recently. There was a good attendance of members, and Mrs. Shelly (president) was in the chair. The following :officers were elected for the ensuing year:— President, Mrs. Shelly; vice-president, Mrs. Henderson; honorary • secretary, Miss D. M. Schramm; honorary treasurer, Miss A. E. Bates; captain, Mrs. Manton; deputy captain, Mrs. Billing; general committee, Mesdames Billing. Boocock, Clark, Deare, A. Ramsay, and J. Smith; sports committee, Miss Bates, Mesdames Clark, Deare, Hogan, and Shelly; convener, Mrs. J. Smith; delegates to the Wellington Croquet Association, Mrs. Manton and Miss D. M. Schramm.
