OLD AND NEW

TRANSPORT PAGEANT

Practically all arrangements have now been completed by the Automobile Association ■(Wellington) for the procession of vehicles used during the history of New .Zealand, the only vehicle available that may not take part when the procession passes through Wellington tomorrow being a "penny-farthing" bicycle. The height of this machine and its inherent intractability in dense traffic has brought refusals from all likely riders, but the secretary of the association hopes that Someone will come forward before noon tomorrow, and, if anyone is willing to venture, a telephone call to the office of the association will be welcomed.

A feature of tho parade through the jcity will be the Defence Department's of vehicles complete with anti--aircraft'equipment. After the proces-

sjon is over the public will have an opportunity to look these vehicles over in the Post Office Square.

The procession will assemble in Bunny Street in front of the new railway station and will move off from there' at noon. The route to be followed is through Lambton Quay, Willis Street, Manners Street, Courtenay Place, Cambridge Terrace, and returning along Wakefield Street, Lower Cuba Street, and Jervois Quay to the Post Office Square. It will be headed by the Police Pipe Band,' and members of the Port Nicholson and Tramways Bands have generously agreed to give their own time to take part in the procession.
